PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY 3 TORBAY 4 TORBAY A 1 DART 2 TORBAY B 4 DAWLISH A 3 WEST DORSET A 2 TORBAY C 1 Torbay moved level on points with Bristol & West at the top of Premier 3 after another competence performance. The students' began the game in 2nd place, but it was Torbay who seized the early initiative, going 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes. Leading scorer Jamie Walsh gave the visitors a 1-0 lead after Matt Clark had made a strong run down the right flank and his cross found Walsh unmarked at the top of the circle. Ian Murphy doubled the advantage from a short corner. Torbay were able to engage cruise control, passing the ball around the middle of the park as they enjoyed the majority of possession. Eventually Plymouth secured a foothold in the game and pulled a goal from a short corner before half-time. Following John Veale's call to increase the intensity, Torbay stepped up the pressure after the break. Nick Avery hit the post and Walsh fired narrowly wide. Torbay went 3-1 up when a Clark through ball found Matt Burrows on the 25 yard line. Burrows went around the goal-keeper at the top of the D and finished with a reverse stick shot. The students reduced the deficit to 2-3, only for Jamie Walsh to go on a mazy run through their defence and score with a shot across the goal-keeper on the hour mark. Although Plymouth pulled a further goal back the final score of 4-3 did not truly reflect Torbay's dominance. Next Saturday Torbay host Cardiff and UWIC A at Shiphay, 2.15pm start. Torbay 2nd XI went down 1-2 at home to Dart. The visitors led 2-0 at the break. Torbay managed to build up a head of steam in the second stanza. Carl Sanders scored to pull one back but the equaliser proved elusive. The result leaves the 2nd XI at the foot of South Division 2. The 3rd XI set up a clash of the 100 per centers next week at Okehampton, by defeating Dawlish A 4-3. Chris Reeves and Nick Walker established a 2-0 lead. When Dawlish levelled the game goals from Mike Stonelake and Darren Hales took the 3rd XI back in front to set Saturday's mouth watering clash. A young 4th XI travelled to Bridport and fought hard before succumbing to West Dorset A. A late Barney Tuck penalty stroke was all they had to show for their effort.
